Our
Facilities

Continuous development and improvement are the keys to success in a business. At Spiral Game Breeders, we have continuously improved the facilities on the farm. From erecting fences to form breeding camps to the finer detail of fine tuning all of our capturing and handling facilities. We attempt to generally maintain all of the infrastructure to enhance the lifetime of these developments.

When considering the health and well being of your animals, it is essential to minimise the stress they experience during translocation. Therefor, at Spiral Game Breeders, we proudly use passive game capture facilities when selling animals. The animals remain calm and collected during the entire process which makes for a mortality rate of less than 5% over the past four years.

KUDU PASSIVE CAPTURING BOMA

At Spiral Game Breeders, we pride ourselves in the way we work with and capture our game by using high-tech technology. With the current scale of our breeding projects, it is uneconomical to continuously use a helicopter and or a vet to translocate our kudu. Our passive game capturing facility situated in our kudu camp thus works extremely well for this!

With the use of various state of the art devices including CCTV cameras streaming a live feed, capturing game from anywhere in the world has never been so easy. The entire boma can be viewed on a single screen with a 360° range. We have multiple holding bomas of varying size for when it is necessary to keep the animals after capture. The ramp for loading is adjustable for both trailer and truck to suit the client's needs.

See what our passive capturing facilities look like below and please feel free to contact us if you would like to come and view it on the farm!

BUSHBUCK PASSIVE CAPTURING BOMA

The passive game capturing facility located in our bushbuck breeding camp serves a different purpose than the one in our kudu camp. The technology used is also different due to the differing behaviour of bushbuck compared to that of kudu.

We use this facility for three main purposes namely:

  • Capturing animals for direct sales

  • Capturing animals to treat or work them

  • Moving sub-adult bushbuck males to the ram camp which is adjacent to the breeding camp.

KUDU BULL CAMP

This project started as a dream of having a separate camp for our young kudu bulls, to allow them to show their potential before finer selection occurs.

Since the opening of this camp in May 2023, we have moved over several young bulls from our main breeding camp, including the offspring of our 63"+ kudu bull, Makulu.

Our first young kudu bull that was moved back into the breeding camp is named - Maverick.
