KUDU
Since we started breeding with kudu in 2018, we have aimed at only acquiring above average genetics especially when considering the quality of breeding bulls. Below is a collection of the bulls that have been bred with at Spiral Game Breeders.

Makulu is Spiral Game Breeders' flagship kudu bull. He measured an astonishing 63 1/4" in May 2025 - at the tender age of 8y! (Click here to see how we measure MAKULU)

Acquired in April 2021, he measured 47 2/8" at the age of 4y1m. With deep spiral curls and soft bases, we saw great potential in this bull. And this he is indeed!
Growing 12 3/8" in just over two years, and with his bases still soft and tips pointing inwards, he was set to become a massive bull. We are so proud that when sold to Dries Visser Pure Bred Game in 2025, he was sold as an breeding bull with great potential to come.
Promise
It is sad to announce that Promise died in 2021 due to a scorpion sting blinding him. With horn lengths of 58" , he was still a young bull - 6.5 years old - and was sure to reach the 60" mark within the next year. We however have some of his offspring with exceptional genes still remaining on the farm.
Phenduka
Son of a 61” bull, Phenduka’s deep curls and perfect horn shape speaks for itself! He measured 52" in June 2023, with his tips still pointing inwards. Another bull that is surely destined for the 60” mark!
Unlike most of our other breeding bulls, Prins was a bull with a narrow horn shape, yet deep curls spiralling to a massive 57 & 3/4” when we sold him in 2021. He had a huge body and portrayed character and temperament like no other. We had to sell and replace him to ensure genetic diversity.

Mustang
Mustang measured 47” at 3.5 years when we acquired him in 2018. He too was a son of a 61” bull. His horns grew extremely fast and he measured 55” at the tender age of 5.5 years. Sadly, he passed away due to a fatal hoof infection in the winter of 2020.
Magnum
With an extremely wide horn shape, Magnum was a sight to behold. We acquired him at 3.5 years of age when he measured 47” and sold him at 6.5 years to prohibit inbreeding at a whopping 54 & ½”. We can already see some magnificent wide-shaped offspring of Magnum.

This is a great reminder of how a breeding program consists of high quality genetics of cows and bulls. The importance of the females should not be underestimated.
